This Privacy Policy explains how Verba Nova ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects information when you use the Verba Nova iOS app (the "App") and the website verbanova.app (the "Site"). By using the App or Site you agree to this policy.
Information you provide. Information you enter in the App, such as practice settings, goals and any feedback or support messages you send us.
Voice and speech data. If you use speaking exercises, the App may access your microphone to record or analyse your speech so it can give you feedback. Microphone access is only used when you start an exercise, and you can turn it off at any time in iOS Settings. Speech may be processed by artificial intelligence (AI) services to generate feedback. We do not sell recordings or use them for advertising.
Purchase information. Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your full payment card details. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status, which receives an anonymous app user ID, purchase and subscription status, and basic device information.
Notifications. If you allow push notifications, we use OneSignal to send reminders and updates. OneSignal receives a device push token and basic device information (such as device type, OS version, language and time zone). You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings.
Usage and diagnostics. Basic information about how the App is used and crash diagnostics, to help us fix problems and improve the App.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers that help us run the App, under their own privacy terms, including Apple (App Store payments), RevenueCat (subscription management), OneSignal (push notifications), AI speech-processing providers (speech feedback), and our website host. We may also disclose information where required by law.
We keep information only for as long as needed for the purposes above, or as required by law. You can ask us to delete your data at any time (see section 7).
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The App is not directed at children under 13 without the involvement of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without consent, please contact us and we will delete it.
Depending on where you live (including under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), the GDPR or similar laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, email privacy@verbanova.app.
Verba Nova is a practice and self-help tool. It is not a medical device and does not diagnose or treat any condition. It does not replace advice from a qualified speech-language therapist or other healthcare professional.
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date shows when it was last changed. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
